Citation: Amer R, Tiosano L, Pe’er J. Leucine-rich a-2-glycoprotein-1 (LRG1) expression in retinoblastoma. Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2018;59:685–692. https://doi.org/ 10.1167/iovs.17-22785 PURPOSE. Retinoblastomas’ growth rate is dependent on their ability to induce neovascularization. Leucine-rich a-2-glycoprotein-1 (LRG-1) was recently reported to be upregulated in human retinal disease with neovascular pathology. The purpose of the study was to determine LRG-1 expression in human retinoblastoma and to correlate it with clinical and histopathologic parameters and to assess how its expression correlates with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression.

LRG-accelerated differentiation defines unique G-CSFR signaling pathways downstream of PU.1 and C/EBP that modulate neutrophil activation

Expression of leucine-rich 2 glycoprotein (LRG), a member of the leucine-rich repeat family of proteins, was recently shown to be up-regulated during neutrophil differentiation. Its precise role in granulopoiesis, however, remains unknown. In this paper, we show that the transcription factors PU.1 and C/EBP that regulate the expression of multiple myeloid-specific genes also bind to the LRG pro...

Molecular characterization and expression analysis of leucine-rich alpha2-glycoprotein, a novel marker of granulocytic differentiation.

Using data obtained from cDNA representational difference analysis to identify genes induced during neutrophilic differentiation of the 32D clone 3G (32Dcl3G) cells, we isolated cDNA clones for murine and human leucine-rich alpha2-glycoprotein (hLRG), a protein with unknown function purified 25 years ago. Expression of LRG during differentiation of 32Dcl3G cells preceded the expression of lacto...

Leucine-rich alpha 2 glycoprotein promotes Th17 differentiation and collagen-induced arthritis in mice through enhancement of TGF-β-Smad2 signaling in naïve helper T cells

BACKGROUND Leucine-rich alpha 2 glycoprotein (LRG) has been identified as a serum protein elevated in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Although the function of LRG is ill-defined, LRG binds with transforming growth factor (TGF)-β and enhances Smad2 phosphorylation. Considering that the imbalance between T helper 17 (Th17) cells and regulatory T cells (Treg) plays important roles ...
